Pyle PL71PHB

Two High Quality Monitors for the Price of One

Pyle PL71PHB Headrest DVD Player

The PL71PHB features two high quality 7-inch LCD monitors for your backseat headrests. Time-consuming or expensive installations

aren’t necessary here – simply replace your passenger seat headrest with the unit, and your family and friends can enjoy movies, music, and more, on two brilliant wide-screen 1440 x 234 resolution monitors.

Each Monitor Can Play Something Different – Making Everyone in the Backseat Happy

Each monitor can be used indepently, so your passengers can enjoy a movie on the first monitor, and the second can be used to play a videogame or for any other video use you want.

Connect Your DVD Player, iPod, or Videogame System Using the Built-in RCA Connectors

The PL71PHB comes with two video inputs and one set of stereo audio inputs. The extra video input cable lets you use your in-dash DVD player to play movies through the PL71PHB, so the entire vehicle can watch the same movie, while audio is played through the vehicle’s speakers. You can also connect a videogame console, iPod, or Blu-ray Player

Watch Movies and Listen to Music with Wireless Headphones

The PL71PHB also has a built-in IR transmitter, which lets you watch movies with IR-compatible wireless headphones — so everyone can enjoy the ride in peace and quiet.

And More!

Full-Function Wireless Remote

A full-function wireless remote is included, so you can change channels and adjust settings without having to get out of your seat — it even works from the front seat.

Built-in Monitor Controls

You can also tweak your monitor’s display using the built-in monitor controls. Too much contrast? Not enough saturation? No problem! Just use the included full-function remote to wirelessly adjust your monitor’s settings so you can get a picture that’s perfect for you.

Pyle PL71PHB Product Reviews

Before I get into specifics about this product, I do want to say that I am very happy with the purchase and have rated it 4 stars. I had my doubts about purchasing this because there were no reviews.

I installed this pair of headrests in my car and the system has worked without any issues for the last couple of weeks, it’s great for long distance drives and makes for a quiet peaceful drive.

Build Quality:

I was surprised by the build  quality of this product and really was not expecting it to be this good for the price I paid. The headrest is made a nice leather material and actually looks awesome in the car. The headrests don’t quite match the grey color of my interior seats but it’s fine as the color is not much different. The screen itself looks crisp, the buttons on each unit are small and work without any issue, as all as all the cable connections.

Picture/Screen Thoughts:

The product description states 1440 x 234 resolution and the quality of the screen and picture itself is superb. The quality is even good when using a V-connector straight into one DVD Player and the kids have no issues.

Installation of the unit was fairly straight forward and easy.

Additional Notes about this product:

It’s possible to tilt the monitor up and down with the headrest and this is very convenient for children because you can match their height. It does seem to create what may be a safety problem since the headrest may not completely support your head. You cannot adjust both the headrest and monitor. This may be a problem for others but it was not for me.

2. In the product description it mentions there are two audio/video inputs and this is not entirely true. You have a cable in the pole, where you can find an AV input in the front of the unit. I expected to be able to connect multiple devices through the pole cables so I wouldn’t need to connect anything to the front panel. Originally I thought having two media centers connected to both monitors this would allow the kids to watch either the same or different videos by just changing the audio/video inputs. It’s not possible to do this because in the pole you only have two video inputs, but only one audio input. It’s possible to connect the DVD player and rear view camera but I find it’s useless to have a rear view camera on the rear seat. Poor design in my opinion, because of this I only gave this unit 4 stars.

3. When using the IR connection with a headset or other devices, I was unaware there were not multiple frequencies available. The headsets receive the signal from both monitors so it’s not possible to broadcast multiple signals when using the IR connection.

4. Another worthy mention is that if you do not have a car adapter you may need an additional adapter that runs for about $10, otherwise you can use the two red and black wires to connect the monitors to the cars electrical system.

Before I go into details, I want to mention that I’m very pleased with the purchase although I rated it as 4-stars.
I have serious doubts buying this one since it has no reviews.
I’ve installed these in my car, connected to media center and use two IR headsets. The system worked great for the past two weeks and we finally can drive in peace for long distances.

Build: The quality of the product surprised me. I expected it to be less – according to the price. The headrest itself is done from leather-like material. It has hice feel and looks good in the car. I have grey interior and black headrests are OK there (it’s not really dark black). The monitor appearance is great. Buttons are small and work well. The cables and the connectors are OK as well. You even have some filter box on the DC wires and the plug.
